How It Works

Pool resurfacing is necessary when your finish shows signs of wear: roughness, staining, chalking, delamination, or cracks. White plaster is the most affordable option ($4,000-6,000 for average pools) but only lasts 5-7 years. Quartz aggregate finishes like Diamond Brite last 10-15 years and resist staining better. Pebble finishes (PebbleTec, PebbleSheen) are the most durable at 15-20 years and come in beautiful natural colors but cost twice as much as plaster. Glass bead finishes add a subtle shimmer. Full tile is the premium option lasting 20-30 years. The resurfacing process takes about a week: drain the pool, prep the old surface, apply the new finish, fill with water, and balance chemistry during a 2-week startup period.
